Uneven rows are commonly made more visible by inconsistent hand speed, uneven cloth tension, yarn variation and changes in pile height. The goal is to establish one repeatable practice method rather than fixing every gap by adding denser and denser rows.
Work through these tests
- Draw straight guide lines on a small scrap and practice keeping them consistent.
- Check that the frame is still rigid and cloth tension has not relaxed.
- Compare yarn strand count and thickness between colors.
- Tuft adjacent practice rows and inspect the front only after unplugging the gun.
- Check model-specific pile-height settings rather than changing them blindly.
If the machine has a fixed-height mechanism, changing the rug’s density is mainly a matter of spacing, yarn and handling rather than raising the needle.
